At Under Western Skies (UWS) boys adventure camp, we understand that there are many outstanding summer teen adventure camp programs out there and the choice can be difficult. We are certain that the combination of adventure, delicious healthful food, fostering of community and encouragement for personal growth and enrichment; make UWS one of the more unique summer adventure camp experiences.

We’re Not Boy Scouts, Outward Bound or NOLS
Under Western Skies is not like other wilderness camp programs such as NOLS, Outward Bound or Boy Scouts. Under Western Skies camp for teen boys welcomes EVERYONE from never-ever outdoor adventurers to boys who are experienced outdoorsmen familiar with backpacking and outdoor living. UWS is a non-intimidating start to wilderness adventure camp and an introduction to a life filled with positive active peers, healthy and sustainable outdoor living and adventure sport activity. Boys that join UWS may go on to pursue high adventures and extended backcountry trips with Outward Bound or NOLS as they gain confidence, interest and skills. While those programs teach similar skills as UWS, we believe that they put more emphasis on the skill side and advance kids in a tiered system. In other words you must do this to be allowed to do that. At UWS, we strive to provide a level field for exploration of ones self and the pushing of comfort levels only at your own speed. There are no requirements to pass or fail only to have fun! We also prefer to run our programs in non-co-ed fashion. Boys groups are designed to create an environment where boys can be boys and have a chance to interact with a small group of peers of the same gender. This provides a unique bonding experience and allows growth of individual male personality under the positive role modeling guidance of UWS camp staff wilderness guides.

Adult itineraries here at UWS Adventures are fun, challenging and unique visiting places rareley ventured to in the Western U.S. Many of the same principles we incorporate into our boys programs, cross over into our adult trips.
